What do you love about yoga?
Simply put I love the way yoga makes me feel on every level of my being! I love everything from the deep spiritual practices to the challenging asanas. Yoga has taught me so much about myself and allows me to show up in the world with greater joy, presence, awareness, love and compassion.
What are you working on in your own practice?
I am working on proper alignment, staying present and connecting with my breath. Oh, and I am also working towards doing a proper and safe Chaturanga Dandasana!
When you're not practicing yoga, what do you like to do?
I love hanging out with friends and family, spending hours in the kitchen making nourishing meals from scratch, going to farmers markets, listening to podcasts, walking on the boardwalk, going to the beach, hiking in places as remote as possible (preferably to a waterfall), studying Ayurveda and seeing live music.
What something you found at Vira that you want to pass on to your students?
The sense of joy and community. I love how Vira makes everyone feel at home and there is such a strong sense of inclusion. I want my students to feel like they belong, they matter and they are welcome.
What do you want students to experience in your class?
I want my students to experience yoga in its true essence as the connection between mind, body and spirit. My hope is that every student feels better leaving the class than they did walking in. Most importantly I want everyone to feel welcomed, supported and encouraged to meet themselves exactly where they are.
What and who are your biggest sources of inspiration?
I am really inspired by people offering simple acts of kindness that go unnoticed, the people that help strangers just because. I am also inspired by people gathering in community for things they love both big and small. Nature continues to inspires me as well and I am particularly moved by the night sky, the sound of the ocean, the view from the peak of a mountain and watching sunsets.
